Guiding Principles
HEDCON works on the principles of Gandhian ethics, which means working for the collective ascension of men, women and children, regardless of economic situation, caste or religion. Furthermore, HEDCON adheres to Gandhian ideology, the belief that the key to development of the Indian society lies in the empowerment of people. In all the activities of HEDCON's member organizations, participation and commitment of the people are ensured, need-based and community driven. HEDCON looks for environmentally sustainable solutions to development problems and generates awareness on them. It is HEDCONs belief that people need to be aware of their rights and responsibilities. Development organizations have to be aware of the root causes of the prevailing problems and must share their knowledge and research with other stakeholders and ultimately, the government must be influenced to support the destitute.
