Research and Documentation

HEDCON has compiled many surveys, studies and research on human rights and social issues that have helped to gain a deeper insight into the problems facing vulnerable people in Rajasthan, India. The studies that HEDCON has conducted provide organizations with better access to information and insight into development issues. The increase in knowledge allows for enhanced communication and efficiency for all stakeholders involved in trying to improve the conditions of destitute people in Rajasthan.

An example of HEDCONs research was a study conducted on silicosis (occupational lung disease) found main in silica mines. This preliminary research formed the basis for public interest litigation and further led to the re-constitution of Pneumoconiosis board by the Rajasthan Government.

Similarly, the studies conducted on Fluorosis (health problems caused by high levels of fluoride in potable water) attracted the attention of the State Government. Through this, several member organizations have carried out education projects to teach the villagers how to deal with problems relating to Fluorosis and their drinking water.
